Adam "Apelad" Koford's Laugh-Out-Loud Cats is a charming webcomic: it presents a mash-up of LOLcats -- images that combine a photograph of a cat with a humorous caption in (often broken) English -- with the stylings of early 20th-century American comics, such as Walt Kelly's Pogo and George Herriman's Krazy Kat. These single-panel comic strips are drawn on "vintage" off-white paper and feature the ongoing exploits of one Meowlin Q. Kitteh ("a sort of cat hobo-raconteur," says Koford) and his young hapless kitten friend, Pip. The strip has witty references that run the gamut from Marcel Proust to Marvel Comics, from H.P. Lovecraft to Charlie Brown, and everything in between.
